Girls’ night is one of the best things in the world, from blasting music while you get ready to sharing laughs as you catch up.
Spending time with your girlfriends can be spontaneous, starting with a wholesome dinner and ending up in the club. Or it can be a chill night out on the town.
You never know where it could lead, but a balance of fun and safety is always the priority!
From romanticizing getting ready beforehand to what to double check before getting in your rideshare at the end of the night, there’s some things you should remember before letting loose with your girls.
So here’s a few reminders below that will keep you fun and safe during your next night out!
Having fun tips
spend more time making memories than trying to capture the perfect post.
There’s nothing wrong with taking pictures! In fact, I recommend saving the memories of you and your girls. It’s a great confidence boost and fun to memorialize the moment.
We all love a good Instagram story or post. But my nights always feel stressful if my priority is getting a good photo before I go home, or before I let myself enjoy the night.
Let yourself prioritize making memories over the perfect photo. Which would you rather have at the end of the night: a hot photo with no memories or a fun night that you have random, blurry photos of?
You can always plan a few extra minutes before you leave to take some photos, but don’t let not getting a great picture ruin your night.
romanticize getting ready just as much as going out.
Getting ready before a night out is so fun. Honestly, it’s sometimes the best part of the night.
I love listening to my favorite music. I love sipping on a glass of wine while I do my makeup. I love watching everything come together when I put my outfit on with my makeup and hair done.
Romanticize the process of getting ready the next time you have a girls’ night. It’s such a fun, girly experience. And it’s such a confidence boost that makes you feel beautiful.
stop worrying about whether everyone thinks you look good.
Girls’ nights are more than trying to impress other people. Stop obsessing over what everyone thinks of you and how you look. Focus on having fun with your friends.
My best girls’ nights are when I’m not thinking about male attention. I love when I’m not adjusting my outfit every 5 minutes and just enjoying the vibe.
Don’t obsess over who thinks you look good (both guys and other girls). Instead, let your opinion of how you look be the only one that matters.
Safety tips
always let someone know where you're going & with who.
Make it a habit to let your friends know if you’re separating from them for a few minutes or for the night. Let them know who you’re going with (and honestly your location should probably be shared too.)
As women, we sometimes forget to update people when we make it home, when we use the bathroom, or even giving an Irish goodbye.
But the more we forget, the less our friends expect us to update them. So if (God forbid) something happens, your friends might be less inclined to be worried if they’re not hearing back from you, if you normally don’t update them anyway.
double check your ride share.
Ubers, Lyfts, Empower or whatever ride share service you use should be double checked before you get in! We all know that it’s important, but sometimes we get too comfortable or used to everything being okay.
So this is your reminder to check the license plate, make sure it’s the right car/photo and ask them what their name/your name is to make sure you’re getting in the right car.
There’s way too many true crime stories of things going wrong, or people abusing ride shares to take advantage of people, especially when you’re intoxicated.
Ask your friends to help you get to your car safely if you need as well. If we’re leaving at the same time, my friends will try to get our cars at the same time and make sure we’re all safe.
bring safety precautions.
Going out at night can always be dangerous, so set yourself up for success before you leave the house.
Bring protection if you can, and make sure your phone is charged. You don’t want to end up stranded somewhere or in a scary situation.
Be cautious of your surroundings, and choose places or activities that you feel safe it. Your safety is important, and alcohol can inhibit your decision-making. So make sure you’re in a space that you feel comfortable in, even before drinking.
