steps to believing in yourself again
Losing trust in yourself isn’t a good feeling.
You should always be your biggest advocate and supporter. Because if you don’t believe and have faith in yourself, who will?
So it can be hard to jump back on the horse, and find a way to start believing in yourself and your potential, after something bad happened or falling off with self trust.
But I’m here as your lovely guide with all the steps you need to kickstart your confidence and let go of the pain from the past.
To believe in yourself again, challenge your failures and disappointments, strive for the small wins and convince yourself you can compete with anyone.
And I’m going to tell you exactly how to do that and more.
what does it mean to believe in yourself?
Self belief is all about confidence and internal trust. It’s about knowing that you’re capable of doing what you put your mind to.
It’s about knowing that failing or making a mistake doesn’t mean you’re incapable of being successful.
In fact, they mean you’ve strived for something bigger and have the motivation to achieve great accomplishments.
Let’s dive into the steps to get you to start believing in yourself again.

#1 challenge your failures & disappointments.
Making mistakes and dwelling on your failures is one of the easiest ways to lose trust in yourself.
If you want to learn how to believe in yourself, you have to be delusional sometimes. You have to have the mindset that everything negative that has set you back has a purpose.
Treat your failures as redirection. Think of your mistakes as lessons.
And consider disappointment as a temporary thing, not something that defines who you are and what you’re capable of.
Once you start having that mindset, you realize it’s okay to take risks and fail. The most successful people have failed countless times, and it only makes you human.
If you’re feeling bad about disappointing moments in your life, challenge what they mean about you.
Challenge what you allow them to take from you. Don’t let failures make you insecure or make you lose faith in yourself.

#2 convince yourself you can compete with anyone.
Some of the most successful and richest people in the world have high self belief. They believe in themselves, and have faced endless rejections and hardships, but they persevered.
Do you think Beyonce believes in herself? Of course. And she’s had decades of experience, tons of rejection and criticism, embarrassing moments and a million haters and trolls.
But she believes in herself, and so should you, no matter what your rap sheet looks like.
Believe in yourself so much that you think you can compete with an A-list celebrity, a CEO, a supermodel, a surgeon, an influencer with millions of followers or anyone at the top of their game.
I love Beyonce so much, but I want to believe in myself so much that I think I can work as hard as her.
I want to believe in myself so much that I think I can be the greatest writer in the world, competing with the top in the world.
That confidence is how you achieve things. That self belief is how you strive for possibilities and opportunities that you would never look at if you didn’t believe you can achieve greatness.
#3 strive for the small wins.
It’s important to celebrate the small wins and enjoy what you’re doing in the present. Too often, we forget we’re living with some of the things we’ve been praying for.
Small wins could be moving to a new city, going a week without eating fast food, getting a raise at work, not reaching out to your ex, saving $5K, reading more after work, running a marathon, beating a personal record you never told anyone about, etc.
You should celebrate the small wins in life because it reminds you of how cool and ambitious you are.
You did something incredible that not everyone does in life, and someone’s looking at your accomplishment in awe.
Remember that you’re someone’s inspiration, and your “small” achievements are only small because you’re already chasing the next thing.
And if you haven’t had a small win, change that. Come up with a mini goal that you can do over the next month or so.
Having small wins to think about your low moments helps you believe in yourself over time.

#4 embrace self love & compassion.
Self love is crucial for believing in yourself because you have to love who you are to believe you’re worthy of your dreams and desires.
One way to strengthen your self love and self belief is by breaking intentions down into monthly, trackable action items that can help you realistically improve the relationship you have with yourself.
What do you want to achieve in the upcoming 30 days? What self love activities do you want to partake in? What goals do you have for yourself this month?
To stay disciplined on my self love journey, I find and devote personal time to planning what I want to achieve over a certain amount of time.
I’ll focus on one goal at a time, such as improving confidence, being more kind to myself, trusting my intuition more, body positivity, etc.
In our self love 90 day planner, we give space for you to stay disciplined through a weekly and monthly recap. It’s important for me to reflect on what I’m grateful for, how I can improve, what the week/month taught me, how I’m proud of myself, etc.

#5 don’t take others’ criticism so much to heart.
Other people’s negative comments to you can be detrimental to your self belief, especially if you’re more sensitive (like me) or you’re just starting off in your journey to believing in yourself again.
Hearing unnecessary or harsh criticism messes with your confidence, and it leaves you wondering if that person is right in their words. It makes you question your capabilities as a whole.
The advice or thoughts someone can give you, based on the snippet of what they get to see in your life, isn’t always the best advice for you because you know your truest self all 24 hours of the day.
You can take a balanced approach by hearing what they have to say without fully letting it bring you down or define you.
Keep their criticism in mind, but don’t let it shake your self esteem or belief in yourself.
