daily habits to improve self love

Self love is crucial for a healthy relationship with yourself. I love finding new ways to show myself some love and appreciation. Whether it’s self care, journaling or solo dates, there are endless ways to practice self love.

But it can take time to get where you want to be in your self love journey. So let’s take it day by day and start with some daily habits you can start doing today to improve your self love.

start the morning by journaling

Journaling is such a sweet way to start your morning and pour out your heart onto a cute notebook or a digital format. When I start my day this way, I feel so light and free. All the things I’ve been worrying about seem to disappear, and I can focus on ways I want to grow and become a better person.

Even if I’m crying about a situation or writing down updates in my life, it just feels so personal and a good way to get it all out. Plus I love looking back and seeing where I’m at, what I was going through in the past and how I’ve grown.

journal prompt examples:

    • Reflect on your current life and list five things you’re loving about how things are going.

    • What’s stopping you today from living your dream life? And what’s a small step you can take to work toward it?

    • What are three things that you’re grateful for in your life right now?

    • Name three qualities about yourself that make you unique from others.

move your body

Go outside and get some fresh air. Or do a at-home workout. Going outside or moving you body in some form is a great way to show yourself some love. For me, the sunny, slightly windy days are my favorite.

There truly is something refreshing about the air outside of your place. Be intentional about it, and go for a walk or take the scenic route doing that errand you’ve been putting off.

Being outside or getting exercise is good for your mental health. Maybe you need the vitamin D or to get the endorphins kicked into gear. You can also romanticize this time and take part in some self love actions, such as hosting a picnic with your friends or doing a solo paint and sip in the park.

other ways to get moving:

  • go on a walk around the park or on a fun trail

  • take a pilates or yoga class

  • host a walk or run club with friends

nourish yourself

Make sure to drink water & eat throughout the day. It’s fuel, and it’s sooo easy to forget about it when you’re not doing well or feeling down in any way. I feel like food is such a sensitive topic in society, and it can be easy to neglect your body even if it’s on accident.

Nourishing your body and providing it with things it will love is one example on how to practice self love and care. Do what you think is best for your body always.

how to make it fun:

  • try a new restaurant by yourself that you’ve been wanting to try

  • get a cute water bottle to incentivize yourself to drink more water

  • make a new recipe you found online

repeat affirmations to yourself

Affirmations are key to showing yourself internal love, and they are something you can easily repeat to yourself on a daily basis. I love to remind myself of how great I am and how capable I am when I’m feeling low.

We all have doubts and insecurities, and speaking kind, sweet words to yourself can help keep those negative thoughts at bay. And I know how powerful affirmations can be when it comes to feeling confident in myself.

affirmations examples:

    • I embrace all parts of myself, even the messy ones.

    • I don’t need to change to be lovable.

    • I am learning and growing at my own pace.

    • I release the pressure to be perfect.

    • I am more than enough.

    • I choose confidence over self doubt
