how to set self love intentions every month
Self love is the foundation of your own worth and virtue. It’s crucial for developing confidence, self awareness and fostering a positive relationship with yourself.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned on my self love journey, it’s that the journey is linear and messy. There are things about myself I am always learning, and I’m constantly finding ways I want to improve as a woman.
When it feels overwhelming and complicated, breaking up your self love journey into monthly intentions can be helpful. What do you want to achieve in the upcoming 30 days? What self love activities do you want to partake in? What goals do you have for yourself this month?
Breaking intentions down into monthly, trackable action items can help you realistically improve the relationship you have with yourself and make bettering your self love a reality.

how I set monthly intentions for myself:
Devote time & set the mood:
The foundation for setting intentions is finding and devoting your personal time to planning what you want to achieve over the next 30 days.
Find a quiet space away from your family, friends, coworkers, etc. Set the mood with a candle and a cup of coffee (or whatever makes you feel clear headed and productive!) I love being on my couch with a blanket and coffee, but I also love going to a coffee shop with a journal. It all depends on what space you’re going to feel comfortable in.
Another thing for me is being in the right mood to set goals. Sometimes I feel too tired or not productive, so I like to set intentions when I’m in the right headspace.
You can also try making it a group activity if that’s more your vibe. Host a goal setting night with your friends! Bring drinks, snacks and music for a good time. Maybe you need accountability and want your community to help keep you on track with your self love journey. Make this activity your own and cater to what will best help you.
Reflect on the past:
In our self love 90 day planner, we give space for you to do a weekly and monthly recap. It’s important for me to reflect on what I’m grateful for, how I can improve, what the week/month taught me, how I’m proud of myself, etc. Those are just a few prompts that are listed with much more to explore!
If you’re setting intentions on your own, I recommend recapping on areas in your life that you do want to improve on and focus on self love reflections that will help guide you to what you’d like to improve on in the upcoming month.
Example: If you want to work on your confidence, recap on the past 30 days and when you have noticed that it’s been higher and lower than normal. Reflect on triggers you’ve witnessed and think about possible reasons you can point to for the low confidence.

Choose an area or theme to focus on:
I have a million things I want to work on to improve myself and my personal relationship. But I also know that it can be overwhelming and exhausting to be confronted with such a big list. It’s important to break your issues and goals down to bite sized intentions you can work with!
Focus on one goal at a time. That could even be a word or theme you want to focus on for the month.
Examples:
confidence
being more kind (vs nice)
trusting your intuition more
body positivity
saying “no” without feeling bad
Focusing on certain areas can block out all the noise that could come with an overwhelming list. I don’t know about you, but I tend to get in my head and become negative to myself because I think “these are all the things wrong with me, and I’m never going to be able to fix them all.”

Break down your mini goals:
Now that we have a main theme to focus on, it’s more than okay to add mini goals. Our self love journal allows space for you to choose personal, self love, health and work goals.
Each week offers space for goals and priorities because I think it’s important to check in with yourself as the week progresses.
Whether it’s breaking down intentions into segments you can track every week or biweekly or maybe even daily, the choice is yours on what you think will be most helpful.

other things to remember when setting self love intentions
Do NOT be hard on yourself. These are intentions — not a to-do list. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t achieve what you wanted. One of the main points of self love is being kinder to yourself.
Your intentions are YOUR intentions. Don’t let anyone make you feel bad or lame for wanting to better yourself. The goal of self love is to improve your relationship with yourself, and you may change some things about yourself in the process. Change is good, and the right people in your life will be on board.
Self love journeys are not linear!! Don’t expect them to be, and don’t obsess or put yourself down if you have a temporary lapse or digression. Working on yourself in smaller timeframes (monthly!) is a great way to look back later and evaluate what was going on in relation to how you're doing.
You got this! You’re strong and capable of anything you put your mind to. Reading this article right now is a step in the right direction of your self love journey. Keep going!
